Waldenburg 06.04.2005 - The majority shareholder at REVUE THOMMEN AG in Waldenburg, Switzerland has been endeavouring to find a successor for quite some time. Following protracted negotiations, an agreement has been struck and signed with the members of management, paving the way towards a management buy-out. The Waldenburg-based company, which has such a rich tradition, produces air- data displays (ADDU) , air- data computer (ADC) , aircraft-instruments for aviation, precision measuring instruments for industrial purposes, as well as altimeters for sport and military applications. The first phase has already taken place with the sale of the Profile Rolling Machine Department to the German company Leistritz a few months ago. It is continuing to operate under the name «Leistritz-Thommen». The famous wrist-watches from Waldenburg have been marketed successfully around the world for some years under the brand «REVUE THOMMEN» by the Tenniken-based firm of «Grovana Watch» under license. The sale of REVUE THOMMENAG will involve the handover of ownership of a company which has been family-run for 100 years. It will continue business at its location with the existing operating management and workforce.
REVUE THOMMEN AG currently employs about 100 employees and achieves an annual turnover of approx. USD 18 million, with 80% accounted for by aviation. The customer-base includes major OEM like Agusta, Eurocopter, Gulfstream. The avionics products are installed in many civilian and military aircrafts globally for new program and retrofit applications.
