Waldenburg, Switzerland – THOMMEN’s AC32 Digital Air Data Computers were chosen by RUAG Aerospace Services for the integration of the glass cockpit design for the Dornier Do 228 of the future. In what will be Universal’s first OEM customer to offer the EFI-890R Flat Panel Glass Displays as standard production, the “Do 228 New Generation” aircraft will feature digital avionics and Universal’s four-panel EFI-890R display suite, including their Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS).
The EFI-890R Glass Display features an adaptable design proving valuable in forward-fit and retrofit applications with interface capabilities for numerous flight deck instruments including digital engine display. Integrated digital cockpits like the new Do 228 New Generation (NG) aircraft also significantly lower maintenance and repair costs while improving reliability. Certification approval for the new avionics suite is expected in the first quarter of 2010.
In addition to the two THOMMEN AC32 Digital Air Data Computers that drive the EFI-890R displays, the RUAG cockpit design incorporates two THOMMEN Aircraft Chronographs as well. THOMMEN has been making time keeping instruments for 157 years.
